Alina Leticia Zárate (She/Her/Ella)

Alina is a fifth-year student from San Gabriel, CA pursuing a simultaneous degree in Environmental Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies and minoring in Spanish Language and Literature. In 2019, Alina worked in the California Central Valley as an intern for the United Farm Workers of America. She also worked as the coordinator of a Vaccine Equity Campaign in the Bay Area during the COVID pandemic in 2021. Alina has had the unique opportunity to study and conduct research in Spain, Chile, and Australia as well as participate in a number of research projects at UC Berkeley related to climate, sustainability, and labor rights. As an activist and researcher, Alina is passionate about global climate and environmental justice issues particularly in relation to water management, food systems, and migrant agricultural workers.
